Student concert "Sorcerer's Apprentice" - CANCELED

Become a magic student - like Harry Potter! Simply regulate everyday things with a spell, without having to bend your finger ... Who doesn't dream of it? But to get from facts to facts: Harry Potter was not the first young magician in literary history.

Already around 200 years ago, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote his poem "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", which perhaps made the children of that time "bookworms" in the way that J.K. Rowling's novel series does today? The magician is out of the house, so Goethe's apprentice magician is in the mood for an extensive bath. Comfortable when you can send an enchanted broom to fetch water instead of struggling with it. The broom drags real water in no time - but without the apprentice sorcerer being able to stop it! Because before that he had forgotten the right spell. In extreme need, the student calls for his master, who can prevent the worst at the last second.

The French composer Paul Dukas was so enthusiastic about the poem that he turned it into a piece of music, which tells the story of the magician's apprentice in a magically comical way. The Saxon Wind Philharmonic gives the audience the opportunity to experience the various stages of the action - the initial pride, the increasing despair of the sorcerer's apprentice, until the old warlock's intervention.
