CD release concert with Andreas M. Hofmeir

conducted by: Thomas Clamor

The celebrated musician, cabaret artist and professor at the Mozarteum Salzburg can be experienced as the soloist of Ralph Vaughan Williams' “Concerto for Bass Tuba”. With the masterpiece for bass tuba as a solo instrument, the Saxon Wind Philharmonic goes on a musical journey to Great Britain.

At the end of 2019 the recordings for the new CD of the orchestra took place. With the “Great Britain Classics” program, the Saxon Wind Philharmonic Orchestra looks at the island's rich musical treasure and draws attention with classics, some of which have been specially arranged for the orchestra.

Andreas Hofmeir was the first tuba ever to be awarded the ECHO Classic in 2013 in the “Instrumentalist of the Year” category. His versatility as an instrumentalist and his passion to cross borders between genres developed into his trademark. The 39-year-old is a professor at the Mozarteum Salzburg, was a founding member and tubist of the Bavarian cult band LaBrassBanda and has received numerous awards both as a cabaret artist and as a classical tubist. He is an author and showmaster, a sought-after soloist and chamber musician and gives master classes and workshops worldwide.
