With its current CD "La Valse" the Saxon Wind Philharmonic Orchestra is awarded with an Opus Klassik as Ensemble of the Year 2023.
The orchestra is beyond grateful and proud for this recognition. After years of making music together, the excitement about the award is unmessured.
As unique as the Saxon Wind Philharmonic is in the circle of German symphonic and opera orchestras, so is "La Valse" in terms of its repertory. The CD contains outstanding works of French symphonic music, arranged in a harmonious way for an orchestra whose instrumentation and sound is special, so considered also internationally. As Peter Sommerer, chief conductor and artistic director notes in the booklet to the recording: "We have no saxophones but the soft brass. In addition to the usual horns, trumpets, trombones and tubas, there are two flugelhorns, two tenor horns and a baritone. Combined with the woodwinds, that makes quite a characteristic blend."
„La Valse“ is produced by hänssler Classic and recorded by "Nordklang" music production. The CD is a product of 2022 under the direction of principal conductor and artistic director Peter Sommerer.
