The Saxony Philharmonic Wind Orchestra's extensive repertoire, which includes numerous compositions arranged by the orchestra itself, is continuously being extended with new elements. The scope of the event determines the appropriate appearance. This can be festive and ceremonial in concert halls or churches, or atmospheric at balls, in TV entertainment broadcasts or on the open-air stage. The orchestra is at home in all genres. High standards apply in all cases, and these have been continuously acknowledged with positive responses from both public and critics.

The Saxony Philharmonic Wind Orchestra performs in many different instrumental combinations. These range from small, flexible wind ensembles to serenade instrumentation (implying incidental music performed at night) all the way to a full orchestra. In this way the artistic possibilities of concertante wind ensemble literature can be comprehensively displayed. Lively interpretations faithful to the original along with instrumental perfection guarantee great success with audiences, and ducument the high artistic standard the ensemble sets for itself. The ensembles own academy, founded in 1995, documents the pädagogical ethos of the wind ensemble and their commitment to sustainability.
